I assume as at the moment it is ‘unofficial’ that it will become official soon? After all the product is owned by Embarcadero so why wouldn’t it be?
My answer to that is would seem to be that someone other than E (their name is too long!) has got the source and made the necessary changes to be supported in Sid (another daft naming convention).
My worry is that Ray hasn’t answered any of these posts other than on the first day this was posted, so the answer he was looking for clearly wasn’t a positive one.
I can’t see why it wouldn’t be on GetIT. If you look at GetIT in 10.3 now you’ll see ‘Bonus KSVC 6.2.3’ is available, so I’d be stunned if it suddenly disappeared.
If you have a 2nd PC/Laptop try re-installing 10.3 there to give you piece of mind/proof.
Nor will I. Embarcadero are shooting themselves in the foot here. At least I would have thought a mention about when these would be available, makes me wonder IF they will be available.
I can also see that Bookmarks and Navigator are also not in GetIT. Two add-ins I use quite extensively, apart from KVSL.
It looks like they were so keen to get 10.4 out they weren’t worried about consequences like these but more about possible new sales.
Ray,
Have Embarcadero got back to you yet, it’s been a week now. I’ve asked them myself and they say ‘as soon as possible’ which is odd as they own this package and have known about this release for months now. And surely the support is a minor change? Isn’t it?
I have to say if there is some issue in that they will no longer support them it will call in my need for 10.4 as all my projects use the components and there’s no way I will undo them and use the standard components.
Ray,
OK, thanks for the info.
I’ve added ‘TApplication.HintHidePause:= 5000’ into the Project file and it works fine, showing the actual hint for 5 seconds which is just right.
Many thanks, as always.
Ray,
That certainly helped. Just amazed at the depth of detail in the reply, many thanks. The first ‘fix’ you mentioned has worked a treat on my dbgrid.
I do have another dbgrid showing the same issues but on this one I do need to use OnDrawColumnCell to colour specific cells depending on their values, so I’ll explore your other solutions in more details.
Delphi is a wonderful tool to enable ‘digging into the code’ to fix issues like this. It’s just a shame that Embarcadero (perhaps understandably) don’t put the amount of resource required into fixing the ‘smaller’ issues in their attempts to capture bigger markets. I feel they rely on forums/support groups (such as this one) to help smooth over problems they don’t have time to fix.
Again, thanks for the swift reply.
Oops, forget this, sorry – not one of yours 🙁
Ray,
Yes, I’ve just tried that and no difference, just stays as United States. Another oddity is that I’ve some code that allows the User to choose a Style from a drop-down box. The same code works OK on other projects but doesn’t work on this one.
Maybe all these oddities are related. I wonder if it may be an idea to uninstall 10.3.3 and re-install it. Seems a lot of effort but may be the only way to solve this one?
Hi Ray,
Did that, and as you thought, I get the ‘Version info not available’ message. The control has nothing in the FilePath property.
What is also interesting is that on an earlier project I did the same thing and do get ‘Version Info Available’. Nothing in the FilePath here, either. And the Locale ID info still doesn’t get saved on this project either. Is it a coincidence that this isn’t saved (as it is on that new test project I did earlier).
Hi Ray,
OK, I created a new project and did the same as you above, and everything worked fine. What I wasn’t doing originally was dropping the TRzVersionInfoStatus controls on my form. I thought this might the the problem (although I’ve not used these controls before). Alas, even dropping these on the form in my other project and setting them to various of the fields, when I run the project nothing displays in the field. They all say ‘Value Not Available’.
The curious thing is in the ‘new’ test project (were everything worked) when I set the Locale ID to English(United Kingdom) and save, it is saved. Whereas in all my other projects when I change that value from United States to United Kingdom and save, the value is not saved. Has this got a bearing on how your controls work?
As an aside, if this forum had the ability to attach screen shots it might be easier to see some of the problems.
Ray,
Both ProductVersion and FileVersion have values in them, I’m actually trying to show FileVersion but am getting the ‘ValueNotAvailable’ message. I get the same message if I try to show the ProductVersion.
I’m using Delphi 10.3.3. It strikes me there are a few things that don’t work properly in this version – When I set the Locale ID to English(United Kingdom) and Save, it doesn’t save (reverts back to US). I’ve reported this to Embarcadero (like tossing a coin down a bottomless well, it seems). Maybe this problem is affecting your VersionInfo as well?
Hi
All fixed now! I renamed the file causing the copy error and the install went through OK.
I’ve just noticed that when Delphi starts up it shows the KSVC plugin, so I’m thinking this is the problem. Getit doesn’t see that it is installed and doesn’t give me an option to uninstall it, only to install it. If there is a way to run Getit outside of Delphi that might not have the same problem?
